Hi everyone!
My name is Alicia. I am an English teacher and live in Santiago de Chile. Teaching is my vocation and I have been a university lecturer for many years. I have a TESOL Certificate from Trinity College London and a Master of Arts in Global Englishes from the University of Southampton (United Kingdom).
I have taught on-site English lessons for adults in the UK and Chile. At the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, though, I decided to jump into online teaching and took professional development courses to be prepared for this new challenge. I enjoy online education because it is flexible in terms of time and space and allows me to contact people from different countries and cultural backgrounds.
I apply a communicative language teaching approach focused on students' needs and a task-based teaching method that allows for hands-on learning in my classes. I share the learning outcomes with the students at the beginning of the lesson to let them know what they will have learned by the end of the class.
Finally, I must say that, from my viewpoint, motivation is essential for learning a foreign language. Accordingly, I try to know my student's interests and adapt the topics and materials to their personal and professional profiles.
Let's explore the world of the English language together!
